SEAMUS MURPHY'S FILM PORTRAIT OF PAT
(April 2024)

Seamus Murphy's film portrait of Pat showing on RTÉ 1 on Monday April 1st 2024.

Seamus writes:
The Irish Independent wrote: “ A genuinely stunning work of art. Beautifully shot; beguilingly lit; practically every second was a visual poem in itself.”

The film was made possible with funding from Screen Ireland and had a successful cinema release in Ireland. I wanted the film to celebrate Pat’s life- his unique writing, his imagination, and his glorious connection with Dublin and Dubliners, the city he adores. I also wanted to illuminate little known details of his full and extraordinary life. The RTE 1 screening and its availability on RTE player reaches its widest possible Irish audience, something that Pat always strived for in his work.

DUBLIN STREETS by LORCAN FINNEGAN
(published in 2022 by Lovely Productions)

A wonderful and unique collection of photos taken on the streets of Dublin by film director and photographer Lorcan Finnegan. Lorcan asked Pat to write a foreword for it, here are the words Pat wrote:

Stunning! Powerful! Majestic.
The phenomenal photographs of a man who loves the same real, edgy, vibrant, energising city that I do. Never before, except when I was actually there, have I seen such a perfect evocation of the unapologetically real Dublin about which the iconic world of cultural cliches have not got a clue.
Lorcan Finnegan - I salute you.

IN DUBLIN THEY REALLY TELL YOU THINGS
March 2022

This is the wonderful title given to a first time ever selection of Pat's poems, which will be published this coming March by the Museum of Literature Ireland.

The book is a beautiful limited hardback edition, whose cover illustration is by Dublin-based artist Francis Leavey. I had the honour of selecting over one hundred poems from Pat's many books as well as from unpublished material spanning the best part of forty years - from 1986 (Salty Water) to the present day (2021).

The collection will coincide with the release of Seamus Murphy's documentary 'The Peculiar Sensation of Being Pat Ingoldsby' which will premiere at the Light House in Dublin on March 6th (see previous post). A special installation of the film will be screened at MoLI until the summer.
